Chicken and Dumplings

on Leon Russell, 1973 Mar 10

I was not very familiar with Leon Russell's music but knew he played with Joe Cocker. I was working at a restaurant on Kennedy Blvd. named Aunt Hattie's Victorian and a waitress said there was this really freaky looking guy sitting at this table. I looked out and there was the Space Captain himself .... He ordered Chicken and Dumplings. Typical for an Okie. I went to the show that evening and was blown away.

This was the Deguello tour. I remember the huge Steer on stage and the musical noteswhen the stage tilted forward. Full blown horn section. A fantastic show for the times....
