Led Zeppelin @ Musicarnival
on Led Zeppelin, 1969 Jul 20
On the night Neil Armstrong landed on the moon, I was in a small tent watching Led Zeppelin performing songs from their first album, with a crowd of maybe like 1000 people.(?) All of us there traveled to the moon too - as it was a mind-blowing experience. It doesn't get any better than this!
One of the best nights of my life - a dream come true. Wish I kept my ticket stub, or took pictures.
Public Hall Concerts
on Public Auditorium
You can add...Janis Joplin, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane and The Grateful Dead. It was always a good place to see a band.
Jimi Hendrix in Cleveland!
on Jimi Hendrix, 1968 Mar 26
I went with my 2 girlfriends. This was one of the best shows of my life. Hendrix's hands just flowed across the guitar. It was like watching a master, a god-like being - playing the way he did. It was also radical just being there - exciting and bodacious. So glad I went when I did.
Derek and The Dominoes
on Allen Theatre
At The Allen Theater, I saw Eric Clapton play "Layla" with Derek and The Dominoes. It was magical and unforgettable.
I also saw The Grateful Dead here one time.
The Rolling Stones
on Cleveland Stadium
I saw the Stones (from a loge!) @ this old, now torn down & rebuilt, stadium. It was in the summer of 1975 or 1976. Does anyone know when it was?
I also saw the Beatles and Michael Jackson perform here.
Outrageous Show
on The Rolling Stones, 1975 Jun 14
Although a long time ago, I can remember the phenomenal energy in Cleveland Stadium when the Stones performed. The place was jumping! I lucked out, with my dad's friend offering their company's loge to him - (cause nobody there had an interest to go! - too bad for them) so I went with my brother & our friends. What a great thing...to see the Stones and have your own private party booth & bathroom.
