"Who are these guys???"
on Rush, 1974 Sep 2
We were right up front for this one (general admission). Since Rare Earth didn't make it, Rush became the "Headliner". When they came on, we were like "WOW!!!, who are these guys???". They were doing the 1st album stuff, more "boogie oriented" than their later stuff. The modest crowd was rockin' out. Near the end, Rush was slinging out free copies of their debut album to the audience. We were blown away by their musicianship as well as the fact that there were only 3 of them. "Oh, the good old days...".
Remember the inflatable penis???
on The Rolling Stones, 1975 Jun 14
Tower of Power, J. Geils, STONES!!! We camped out @ gate "D" the previous night & hauled ass to the front row when they opened it. The infield WAS insane!!! It was hot as hell, in all respects. The Stones were in true form, over the top spectacle... lot of make-up, raw playing, Billy Preston strutting out banging the opening notes of "Heartbreaker" with his keyboard strapped around his neck... and lest we forget, a huge inflatable penis. They played well into the night. My best concert experience ever, bar none!
