This performance was the site of one of the worst rock concert-related tragedies in US history. Eleven fans were trampled to death and many more injured in a rush for first-come-first-serve seats at the sold-out concert. |

what actually happened
It wasn't a "trampling." It was a slow crush from the back of a huge crowd trying to get into the show, through doors that opened outward against the crowd, on a cold night on the Cincinnati riverfront.
In a way, people were trampled, but it wasn't because of a mad rush for seats...it was because the doors couldn't open...and people were pushing to get in.
Smaller people fell and were thus killed.
