The Who- 1970
I was at this show.. I was 17, living in Betesda MD. It was assinged seating, but as the show started , my friends and I moved up and got about 15 rows from the frount, slightly to the left of stage. Pete Townshend came out and announced that why were not going to do "Tommy', since thy had released "Live at Leeds" and wanted to do new stuff.. The crowd went nuts, screaming for the rock-opera.. Keith Moon then began shouting into the mike " OK, OK.. We'll do the f@%&king opera, but you all shut the F*@k up!!!" They then went into Tommey, which I'll never forget. The band was tight, Rodger and Pete really getting into it. Then, at the end of the opera, the stage went black.. After about 45 seconds, you could hear Peter.. (..one, two three four..) whereas the stage lights came on Pete, suspended in the air, kicking in to "Summertime Blues", a sight burned in my brain forever!! They did the "Leeds" LP, then walked off to a thundering 10 min. oveation. I've been to alot of concerts in my 55 years, but this was the best show I ever attended..
