Zeppelin gig
Zep were the biggest and best band in the world then.My mates queued for the tickets which i believe were £1.The week before the gig i lost my ticket and was panicking big time. However,my mates went in and asked to come out to buy a poster giving me one of tickets,so i was able to walk back in with them.
When we got inside,we were downstairs and not too far from the stage. Its the only concert ive ever been to that had scaffolding in front of the stage, presumably to stop the women from climbing onstage to get at Robert Plant who was indeed a rock god and looked like one.
Memories are very sketchy after so many years but the big dissappointment was Robert Plant had the flu and couldnt really sing.I remember Jimmy Page with his violin bow, which i believe he used for the middle piece of Whole Lotta Love, that song was part of a medley.
Im sure i can remember women throwing lots of underwear at Robert Plant. It was unbelievable to see them actually walk on stage and do rock and roll.
God-did John Bonham hit those drums hard.Looking at the set list in the book-Led Zeppelin The Concert files shows the set list, which included Heartbreak Hotel,i don't remember that at all.
A dream come true to see them but his voice was shot.
